Care for Artwork

Care for your artwork
Thank you so much for choosing to purchase my artwork! I am incredibly grateful for your love and support!
This page gives advice on how to care for different types of artwork:
Watercolours, Acrylics, Prints and Resin.
If you have any more questions regarding the care for your artwork, please don't hesitate to contact me. I am also happy to advise and recommend regarding professional framers.
Originals
-
Watercolours
Handle with clean dry hands or cotton gloves.
Watercolour paintings are very prone to fading. Your watercolour should therefore be hung away from direct sunlight and ideally behind UV-protective glass to prevent this.
To avoid the paper warping or mould maintain a stable humidity and temperature (ideally 16-19C).
Dust the frame and glass with a soft dry cloth.
-
Acrylics
Your painting will have been varnished to protect against UV and also dust particles. Dust can settle on the painting but it shouldn't bond. Any dust that settles can be brushed away with a clean dry soft brush.
Avoid hanging in damp conditions, direct sunlight or temperatures above 30C or below 10C, as this could cause mildew, fading or warping.
-
Resin
Use a microfiber cloth for dusting and general cleaning.
Use glass cleaner or a damp cloth and mild soap for stubborn spots such as fingerprints. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Avoid abrasive cleaners or chemicals as they may scratch or dull the resin surface.

Prints
Thank you for ordering one of my giclée, museum quality, archival prints. If looked after properly they will last for hundreds of years! Although the inks are fade resistant, positioning away from direct sunlight will prolong its life.
Firstly handle with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves.
If your print is rolled remove it from the tube and place face down on the tissue paper enclosed. Place some heavy books/clean weights evenly over covered prints for 24-48hours.
I would recommend professional framing for optimal results. If framing yourself do ensure you use acid-free mounts and backing boards.
