Digitalis purpurea, commonly known as foxglove, is the source of digoxin, a cardiac glycoside that has been used for centuries to manage various heart conditions. Digoxin increases myocardial contractility and helps regulate heart rate, making it an important treatment for disorders such as atrial fibrillation.
