Galanthus nivalis, commonly known as snowdrops, contain galanthamine, a compound that increases levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain to support cognitive function. It is used in the prescription drug galantamine to help slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and early dementia.
